The first Pepe was a toad

El Sapo Pepe hopped Argentine TV in 1988. Today a Solana wallet holding 163.99M $TOAD is giving it away, and every base unit of it is accounted for on this page.

This is a statement about a wallet, not about a person. It does not and cannot show whether anyone sold tokens held somewhere else.

Transfer count rose while token volume fell by more than half. Drop sizes are being scaled down as the price climbs, so tokens per day is the honest metric here — transfers per day tells the opposite story.

How we know whose wallet this is

The campaign wallet sent 70,000 TOAD to a brand-new token account that has exactly one transaction in its entire history, and 63 seconds later the X account @mdudas posted a screenshot of that balance while replying to the recipient. The receiving wallet's pump.fun username matches the handle replied to. The wallet and the X account are the same operator.

Neither party has ever posted this address. The identification below is inference from public evidence, not a disclosure. We label it that way everywhere on this site.

  1. 1 · the transfer

    70.0K $TOAD left the campaign wallet at 2026-08-10 18:29Z.

    4Syi…oiPU
  2. 2 · the receiving account

The recipient’s token account was created by that very transaction and has 1 signature in its entire history. The balance has no other possible source.

    6eZa…z6x8
  3. 3 · the post, 63 seconds later

@mdudas replied to that recipient with a screenshot of their portfolio showing exactly that balance.

What weakens this (9)
  • pump.fun returns x_username=null and x_id=null for BOTH wallets. The pump.fun username is a self-chosen display name and is NOT by itself proof of X identity. Render this caveat; do not hide it.
  • x_api unavailable (HTTP 402: {"detail":"credits depleted","status":402,"title":"Payment Required","type":"https://api.x.com/2/problems/credits-depleted"}); impression_count NOT available on this route
  • @eltoadpepe X account created: Account creation date requires GET /2/users/by/username with user.fields=created_at. The configured bearer token returns 401. The keyless syndication profile endpoint returns an empty body. Unverified.
  • TOAD moving from this wallet to the pool is NOT evidence of selling. A liquidity deposit sends TOAD *and* SOL to the pool and returns LP tokens. Any figure that lumps the two together overstates selling and misrepresents the deployer.
  • The "3-part thread" numbering is the curator's, not the platform's: no conversation_id was returned for any of these posts, and in chronological order they read (2/3) @mdudas 23:10Z, (1/3) @ZeusRWA 23:22Z, (3/3) @mdudas 23:47Z. Render them by timestamp, and do not claim they are one reply chain.
  • USD-at-drop is a candle-close estimate. A drop fills somewhere inside its minute, and the median candle spans 2.4085% high-to-low, so the campaign total carries about +/-$7,309 of irreducible uncertainty. Published rounded; never render a to-the-dollar total.
  • 'Moved out' is not 'sold'. A wallet-to-wallet transfer, an exchange deposit and a sale are indistinguishable without tracing each recipient's own transactions, which this pipeline does not do.
  • The campaign is live. Every count here is a floor that grows; the timestamp on each figure is part of the figure.
  • Live circulating supply is ~960.57M and falling as burns land, not the nominal 1B. Percentages computed against 1B understate concentration.

The 1988 lore (3 entries — uncited history)
  • 1988El Sapo Pepe debuts on Carlitos Bala's Argentine children's television show: green toad, red shirt, yellow suspenders. Seventeen years before the internet frog.
  • 2005Matt Furie publishes Boy's Club #1 and introduces Pepe the Frog. The toad was already seventeen years old.
  • 2013El Reino Infantil / La Granja de Zenon release the El Sapo Pepe song, which becomes a Latin American childhood anthem.

We have not independently sourced a 1988 broadcast. What is verifiable is that the token’s own on-chain metadata, immutable since mint, makes this claim.

The other side

What critics say

The conflict of interest

Mike Dudas is a partner at 6th Man Ventures, a seed investor in pump.fun. He was personally asked by pump.fun’s co-founder to test the new mobile app, bought $TOAD 17 minutes and 43 seconds after the mint at a fully-diluted value under $50,000, and the resulting trade became a marketing story for the platform he is invested in.

Every element of that is verifiable and none of it is alleged wrongdoing. It is the strongest honest critique of this campaign and a ledger that omits it is a fan page.

The deployer took 20% in the mint transaction

The deployer bought 200,963,210.66 $TOAD — 20.1% of supply for 6.91 SOL inside the same transaction that created the token, then 88 minutes later sent 180,963,210.66 of it onward and kept exactly 20,000,000.

For the record, and against the usual assumption: that wallet has 0 sells and 335 buys. Tokens it sent to the pool were liquidity deposits (17 of them), not sales — an LP deposit sends $TOAD and SOL and returns LP tokens. Counting those as selling would misrepresent it.

There is no claim portal for $TOAD. This site will never ask you to connect a wallet, and neither should anything calling itself a $TOAD airdrop. Match the contract address, every time. DexScreener search is keyword-based and returns only tokens that have a tradeable pair. It is a sample of impersonators, not an exhaustive registry. Most have negligible liquidity. The canonical mint is excluded by address.
